Sourcing

How coffee companies source their coffee is the most important thing about them.

The coffees we purchase represent the highest tier of specialty grade coffees. We pay anywhere from two to five times the Fair Trade standard, which translates to better living wages and more infrastructure investment. Those things, in turn, translate into increasing the quality of coffees throughout the world. We want to be part of a reversal of coffee industry pressures that have required farmers to sell to the least common denominator (commodity markets). Coffee sold as a commodity leads to compromises in environmental practices and does not allow for farming methods that promote robust training programs and social advancement. Achieving this reversal will require change on a very large scale. But it is our responsibility to find small ways in which to change our own practice and to encourage that change in the practices of others.
